942 deal for current subs in the wind???

What the hell does the amount of time on this forum have to do with anything? You've been here 9 months longer and that makes you better than me? Being here one month six months, five years doesn't mean jack. Posting once, 50 times, or 1000 times doesn't mean jack either! And since when do they show a fight and a porn show on the same channel? (unless maybe that is the kind of porn YOU might be into) You order a fight and go to the channel it's on or you order a porn show and you go to the channel that's on. Fortunately for me, Dish doesn't carry the shows that would be of interest for me on PPV (just think of the money I'm saving!) If someone is so incompetent to turn to channel 490 or whatever channel the your choice of porn is on instead of 500whatever the fight is on, then they are as stupid or more stupid than the CSR you are b*itching about. If I did order some boring fight on PPV, 1) I would be smart enough to know what channel it was on; and 2) if they had screwed it up and didn't turn it on I sure as hell wouldn't be calling up demanding a 942 receiver because of the screw-up. Hey, don't charge me, give me a free PPV, but to demand a high end receiver for it would be asinine! But in your world that is what everyone should do. So in your world, everyone who has ever had something go wrong with Dish, or Comcast, or Direct, or their cell phone company, or the company that sold them their car should demand that in return for their screw up, you should get whatever their most expensive item on their market is.
When I got a recall letter on my Toyota 4-Runner, I didn't go in and demand they give me a Toyota Land Cruiser (which in your world is apparently what we all are supposed to do) I took it in and let them fix the problem. I didn't dump it and go to Nissan or Chevy or Honda.
Do nothing, No! But to demand what you are demanding from them or you are going to sue them plus leave, Please. I just gotta ask, aren't you the person that sued McDonalds because you spilled coffee on yourself? ;)
In your predicament, I could see asking for a free month off my bill. Maybe a month of HBO so you can catch Sex in the City that you seem so excited about (Gotta tell you though, not a big fan, Deadwood is much better in my opinion) or maybe Showtime for a month (there are some good shows on there, but my guess is the ones I like would not be in your ballpark) but to demand what you are demanding would most definitely set a extremely bad precedence for Dish and think it's beyond ridiculous to even ask for it.

^^ Agree 100% with the above.

a free month?? for channels Ive had for 5 years and will never, ever get again?? theyve already given me a free month, offered me a free 510 and are still negotiating with me. Why shouldnt i get what I can?? I feel this is very important. You dont. I dont care what you think. The only thing yhat sets dish apart from directv was the ability to get trhose distants, as well as the superstations. when youre truck was recalled, did you expect the truck to be returned exactly the way it was supposed to be? thats what I expect. hiow would you have liked it if you were told- the axle needs to be replaced but we cant find that axle anymore so we will waive one payment(just like a free month's service) and well hope your axle is ok. Obviously Dish feels I have been wronged . Again, I am watching for free right now, and the 510 offer is still on the table if I remain a customer. Sorry, I'm not gonna back down cuz you are unable to (or dont want to) stand up for yourself. Why would it bother you so if I did indeed end up with a 942? Do you go thru files of people who have sued insurance companies for fake fall downs?? Those cases raise your rates. Why arent you on those forums screaming how they dont deserve the money??

"When youre truck was recalled, did you expect the truck to be returned exactly the way it was supposed to be?"

No, I would expect the truck to be fixed. Especially since many recalls are required by the government. I would expect my truck to be fully compliant with the law as well as with my own standards.

Mattyro there's one thing that hasn't been made clear through this entire thread. Do you have ALL of the Chicago stations or just some of them? Because distant networks aren't specific to a certain location in terms of qualification as far as I'm aware. If you can get the NBC out of Chicago then you should be able to get LA as well. I'm also willing to bet that you were grandfathered in and when the changes were made to your account it affected all of the distants you no longer qualified for at the time. Dish may well have sent you a letter but you never received it, but that is speculation of course.

How do you know I don't? :smug
Let's say they give you the 942, what's to say you don't jump ship in a couple months because, oh I don't know, they start charging another dollar extra for the Superstations or more to carry your RSN. Or god forbid some GM decides that they want dish to pay more and they turn off their feed and you like the station. You have already threatened to dump if you don't get your way.
As far as I see it, you are now a cost risk to dish. Thanks for your 5 years, but now to threaten to jump over some stations. Maybe if you signed a two year contract, and depending on what package you had (120 or higher) a deal could be made.
Too bad their isn't a poll on here so the people could vote on whether dish should give you the receiver. Now I think that could be most interesting. ;)

Yeah it would be interesting. I'm halfway tempted to make one myself but that's likely to turn into a flamefest and quickly get locked.

Mattyro, I have the solution to your problem! It was there all the time, so obvious I feel like a real newbie. Quite simple... call C21 and list your house, then move to Los Angelas! You can hold the adulations and applause, it was my pleasure to help and you are quite welcome! :D

If they gave me a 942 I would remain a loyal customer. Im not looking to gouge Dish. The simple fact is I have lost something that simply cannot be replaced (and yes I do get all 4 Chicago local) and I want something that is extremely valuable to compensate me for losing something I consider extremely valuable. Dish recently did me a favor and asked me not to reveal that favor "on those internet forums".Well, I never did reveal the favor they did and I would be loyal to them if this problem gets solved on my behalf. I have AT180,VOOM+HD,Superstations,Chicago,CBS-HD and NBC-LA. I would think they want to keep me, but I have cancelled eff 7-31 and I guess it's over.

From Dish's perspective, aren't the distant locals valued at something like $5/month? Doubtful they would accept the premise that you have lost something "extremely valuable."

I wish I could get CBS-HD and NBC-LA, but even as a 7 year customer who has had a monthly subscription of $90-$105/month for the past 4 years, they won't even allow me to buy those channels. Because it is not legal for them to sell them to me.

Personally, I would object if Dish gave you a free 942 and would not offer one to me. I suspect I have sent them many more dollars over the years than you have, and I even endured 4 years of the Dishplayer DVR woes. And I have influenced several neighbors and friends to subbing to Dish.

I'm sure many others would also make strong claims for one. Probably far stronger than the loss of a handful of channels that largely repeat programming you already get off of other channels.

Nice try Tom, but according to Mattyro, because you have only been on this site for a couple months, you don't have an opinion nor any expertise. I mean he tried to rip me for being here for like six months, so...
But if it is any consolation, I agree with you!

true--the distants are only $5/mnth. They will however lose $110/mnth by losing me. basically they could recoup the cost of a 942 3 times over during a year's committment. They can get $5000 dollars from me over the next few years--they have chosen to lose that money over a piece of hardware worth maybe $200 to them.
