942 deal for current subs in the wind???

I was in contect with Ceo@dishnetwork.com last night and i was told that by the end of this week there will be a deal on the 942 for current subs. he is not shure what it will be but there is one in the works.

I'd like to see that e-mail... or was it not in writing?

This Can't Be the Deal...Can It??????????????

Someone on DBSTalk has talked to a guy named Judd from the Executive Office and Judd told the guy that the deal is this: For the purchase price of $798, a current sub can have the 942 DVR installed. That's $699 for the DVR and $99 for the install. This is the same "deal" that has been offered from the beginning isn't it???????

I sure hope that this is not the "deal" that everyone has been hoping for

A while back I had read that people were emailing the Executive Offices and they were getting a reply back within a couple of hours. At first, these people were being given a lease deal for $250 after begging and pleading, and then they quit doing that because they would be announcing a new "deal" for current subs in mid-July (7/14/05).

Has anyone here who was told this been in contact yet with the Executive Offices to find out what the heck is going on????????

Last week I tried the executive office route and was told a new deal was forthcoming for existing customers. I called the toll free number last night (about 6pm CDT, 7/14/05) and after a few phone system snafus got a "technical" guy who said he had a message on his screen about a deal coming in mid July but no solid details yet.

He told me to call back in a week, but I think I will play CSR roulette about once a day until they finally let loose.

Just found out that expressvu is selling the 9200 (Canadian version of 942) for only $599CAN ($505US). :shocked

oh yeah, and no DVR fee either

everyone makes good points. the real craw-sticker(that would be something that sticks in my craw, wherever a craw is) is the simple fact that a csr removed the locals by accident or stupidity or carelessness;my account would "have been looked at" if not for the unauthorized action of a Dish employee. What if she turned on all the porn? what if my toddlers saw the porn? would Dish accept any responsibilty in that case? Is thier motto: "Our CSR"s--right 100% of the time" . I even offered Dish to compensate me with a 921. Buggy and soon to be obsolete in the mpeg4 world. They say they cant get one. Thats like the ceo of Michelin telling me he cant get me a tire. Besides the loss of networks and the desire for compensation, what will lose me as a customer is the simple fact that noone has ever said "our csr did something that really upset you--how can we make it better? I HAD TO INITIATE EVERYTHING HERE--EVEN THE CONCEPT OF COMPENSATING ME WAS MY IDEA.

No offense but your quarrel should be directed at the FCC and not at Dish Network.

It just doenst seem right to me that you want compensation as high as a high end reciever because Dish is following the LAW.

Americans seem to have this f**ked up idea of customer service these days while on top of corporations giving out worse customer service by the second. Bad combination. :yes

With that said I have to say that Dish is in the right here. They are following the FCC regulations and if they didnt do what they did they may be liable for large fines in the future.

Someone on DBSTalk got in touch with someone at the Executive Office today and they told him that DISH does not now and never will have a lease option for the 942. So the person threatened to quit the DISH service and the Executive didn't give him a chance to give him a cancellation date. The Executive terminated his service right there on the spot and would not let his service continue a minute more. Apparently, he subscribed to the AT60 pkg and locals. If this is how DISH operates, I'm cancelling my service as well. That was totally uncalled for and very un-professional for someone who supposedly is supposed to be representing Echostar and Dish Network. The $100 monthly fee that I spend on DISH apparently doesn't matter to them.

LOL... thats what I call customer service. :clap You know.. I wish it was that easy to cancel my old Wireless phone with my local Wireless company. It took me 30 hours on the phone and 2 trips to the local wireless store. (no kidding... no joke) to get rid of my second phone and put it on my local Wireless prepaid service (Through the EXACT same company!!!!). Needless to say I switched my primary phone to another Wireless company and had my old number ported so the new company had to put up with the lousy service from my old company.

Hey.. he asked to be cancelled. He got what he wanted.

lets get something straight--I have no problem following the law or with Dish following the law. The person(cincyguy24k) who said "dish was right" obviously hasnt read the entire thread. A CSR TURNED MY LOCALS OFF IN ERROR OR BY ACCIDENT OR WHATEVER!! If I got a letter saying I am nolonger eligible and my locals would be terminated dec31 blah blah blah, I would have just said "oh well it wasnt gonna last forever". and forgotten about it. this is strictly about a dish rep screwing me--badly-- and Dish network doing absolutely nothing about it. You guys can all sit around and get crapped on. I for one want to be compensated or I leave for DirecTV. I cant even say I will miss VOOM-- equator is the only thing worth watching for any length of time. Oh, btw--why do I still have Chicago locals???

Your Chicago stations were left on by accident by a retarded CSR while you were being crapped on for being an E* subscriber.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I can't believe they still want people to pay $700 for a damned receiver.

I have Comcast coming on Wednesday to install my HD-DVR, all the HDTV channels including major locals, digital cable and HBO including HBO-HD at $29.99 for 16 months.

Dish Network has until the end of the month to get me a 942 for free and I'll stay.

Well, andrewe77, I hope you have your next provider picked out, because I don't think there is one chance in a thousand that Dish is going to give you a free 942.

Perhaps you can then call your cell phone provider and demand their top-of-the-line phone for free.

The major networks have been broadcasting HDTV for how many years now and we still can't get a HD-DVR from Dish without paying $700???

I sure wish I knew where all you whiners worked so I could go there and ask for things for free just because. You don't want to pay for something, go the hell someplace else! Compensation for losing what, three channels that show the same damned stuff your locals show for free? Give me a f*cking break. I'd understand if someone from Dish came and put their foot through your roof or ceiling while installing your dish asking for compensation of some kind (but their high end receiver, what the hell ever!), but because you lost a couple stations that you can still get you want something? You're lucky they are even talking to you. Good thing I'm not a CSR I guess, cause I would have given you Directs 800 number then told you to have a nice day and turned all your sh*t off! Is news out of LA that important to you? Then Get KTLA and quit your b*tchin! Their morning show is better than any other morning show out there and if you are that interested in car chases on the 101 freeway, there is always their evening news. But besides that, you aren't getting anything on distants than you can get from your home market.
All I can say is I pity Direct cause that is apparently where you are headed and I am sure that we can head over to their threads in a couple months and read about how you are trying to get compensation from them for something their CSR did to you this week.
Folks, it f*cking TV for gods sake, most of us can remember when all we had were three channels and PBS (yeah, I don't count it as a real channel either). No one is forcing you to pay for anything, you feel like you are being sh*t on? Move, change, go outside and take a walk. Spend some time with your kids, take up a hobby. Legal action? Give me a break, I wish I were a judge and you and some idiot lawyer brought this one in front of me, I would so run you out of my courtroom the bailiffs would probably have to put both of you in protective custody for wasting my time and everyone elses plus costing taxpayers money.
We all wish we lived in a perfect world, and I hate to burst your bubble, but we don't. People make mistakes, things break, water heaters spring leaks, car engines die, and channels sometimes get turned off. We vote idiots into congress and into the presidency (which just shows how imperfect we are) and then allow them to make laws that screw us, and that looks like what happened here. SO DEAL WITH IT!

slamminc11- I guess I should defer to your incredible 6 months of knowledge here on this forum. didnt you ever have a preference for anything? why do you even watch tv? all the shows are pretty much the same, if you had basic cable you will eventually see everything thats shown on all the other channels. I see the affiliates are now showing "sex+the City". it only took four years--so ya know you dont really need HBO-if youre patient(and I'm sure you are cuz its obvious you never stand up for yourself under any circumstances), you will get to see any show you want. Lets assume you are a big fight fan. you call dish to order a ppv--the csr orders "Buxom Babes" instead. Your aunts, uncles and other family members are all over your house to watch the fight and all of a sudden everybody is watching porn. What would you do about it? A csr by her incompetence has caused you huge disappointment. According to the book of Slamminc11 YOU DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! NO NEED TO GET WORKED UP--ITS ONLY TV. COMPANIES LOVE CUSTOMERS LIKE YOU AS THEY SPREAD THIER CHEEKS AND LET LOOSE. Ya know what theyre thinkin? its this--"He's a typical consumer, we can jerk him around all we want and all he'll do is ask for more" . It's people like Slamminc11 who ruin it for the rest of us. Those of us who let corporations know they will lose our business for lousy treatment are doing the work for the rest of you.
