942 install tomorrow, help

I have to install a 942 tomorrow, and I've never seen one. Does the 942 have FOUR inputs and two outputs; 1 HD+DVR, and 1 DVR tv

Total install:
942 + 322
Dish 500 + 61.5

This is gonna be a big ass install, so any feedback will really save my ass. Also, got any tips for the 942, I've heard the software download is just outrageous & does the 942 have FOUR inputs?

alright, saw dish's brochure, looks like two inputs, two outputs. I was expecting to record + WATCH on both tv's at the same time. basically a 922

Right. But to be more specific, you can record & watch on both tv's at the same time, but just watching previously recorded stuff. But I knew what you meant... record & watch "live" on both at the same time. That you can't do...

Um... on second thought, you might be able use all 3 tuners (2 sat, 1 antenna) at the same time--record two sat shows, watch one OTA show live but only on TV1. Or record one sat show and one OTA show while watching a sat show live on the non-recording sat tuner. Clear as mud...

And with the OTA in mind, it's sort of more like a 932.

good point. know anyting about the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, what's the difference?

Just the compression settings. Doesnt change much else.

Except of course, NO current receivers in the field support MPEG-4.

E* has announced the MPEG-4 capable 411, which replaces the 311 and 811.
