This is for the Detroit guys on this board.

This Saturday night, Detroit has the ULTIMATE sports conflict:

Game 3 of the Celtics series and Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals are on AT THE SAME TIME ON THE SAME DAY!!

Talk about a tough decision...

Two rules of thumb...first, Red Wings always take precedence over any other sport/team/event (to include weddings, birth, death, etc.) and second, two HDTVs, PIP, DVR, etc. My biggest complain is no Versus/Golf HD on FiOS!

Note that Detroit has two arenas. There are still plenty of towns where two teams share one.

What are you getting at ?
Wings play hockey at the Joe and Pistons play in Auburn Hills ?
They are along way from one another, it would be different if both teams played downtown, like the Joe and Cobo Hall.

How would it be different if both teams played in the same arena, like Washington, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, etc, etc, etc. ? If you think the networks are going to allow either game to move time zones, you are kidding yourself. That means the vaunted "home court advantage" earned over a season record, just went poof for one team or another.

IF, they were in the same arena, they would schedule one event in the afternoon and the other in the evening, it's done all the time.

I'm not sure if thats what your talking about though

Yep. A couple times MSG has televised an afternoon Knicks game, then televised the changeover to the ice surface for the Rangers game that night.

Believe these were all regular season games.

During the Cavaliers runs during the past two NBA playoffs, there were usually 2-3 conflicts with Indians games. Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field are literally right next door to each other and share the same parking facilities. In some cases, they would start the Indians game an hour earlier. This year on 5/12, the Indians were forced to play a twi-night doubleheader at the same time the Cavs played game four against Boston. The 1st Indians game started at 4:30pm and the 2nd game started around 8pm, the same time the Cavs game started.

Now it will happen again in Detroit.
Saturday the Red Wings and Pistons both play at the same time again, 8 pm.

Jimbo

Don't forget the Tigers at 7:05 PM. I'll be golfing this weekend up north, I will look for a bar with multiple TV's.

GO RED WINGS, and PISTONS!!!

I very much doubt that. The CBC would never agree to a move of the NHL off Saturday night (Hockey Night In Canada), and ESPN/TNT would never agree to move the NBA. You would see one game or the other, depending on who has the "A tenant" contract, moved to the other city, disrupting the earned "home court/rink advantage".

What are you referring to, I'm talking about having more than one event at the same location, ala, Hockey during the day, basketball in the evening or vice versa.

The two leagues could care less about what is going on outside of thier games, except when it comes to the NFL and October baseball.
