Started this last night. Enjoying it so far.

I liked it quite a bit too. I would say Game of Thrones knowledge not really a prerequisite.

I did read season 2 is on the way. Not sure how many short stories are available for these characters.

He wrote 3 novelas with Dunk and Egg. Based on reaction to season one I'm sure that all three will be made. There are supposedly 6-9 other stories that George RR Martin has ideas for, but hasn't written. We have seen this before (with GoT) so I am not holding my breath. But this is obviously much cheaper to shoot than GoT or House of the Dragon since the dragons are all gone during this time period. I'd say if HBO can get more good stories to tell with this crew, then they will try.
