A note for all Verizon users, especially RV'ers

Bottom line is that shutting off CDMA has zero effect on your ability to make calls with Verizon to any other person, unless of course YOUR cell phone isn’t VoLTE capable. In which case you wouldn’t be able to call anyone after December 31, 2019

Not 100% true..3g connects directly to the landline network..via the cell phone tower..4g doesnt .howevere. the land line network is also being switched to VoIP in fios areas..they share the same VoIP network that voLTE 4g uses

Well I guess if you're going to continue to ignore the facts there's no point in going on. Interoperability is required and it is only currently in place between Verizon and AT&T, no one else, period. All your responses assume a dropback to another technology if Verizon voLTE can't connect except Verizon is turning off that 3G technology, there's nothing to fall back on, it's 4G (voLTE) or nothing. Continue to say it will work anyway if you want but it won't make it true. I'm outta here.

LOL whatever dude. I’m sorry but you are just plain wrong. Shutting down CDMA and switching to 100% VoLTE has no impact on who you can call, as long as YOUR phone is VoLTE capable, and YOU have access to the LTE network. I can call anybody on the planet right now and all my calls will go through. It's just like using Voip. All they are doing is using the data network to place calls. How do I know this? My phone doesn’t even have a CDMA radio in it.

Your original post said nothing about fallback networks. Yes we all know if you don’t have LTE access from your tower, you won’t be able to make a call. Your original post seemed to indicate that recipients needed to have a VoLTE capable device which just plain isn’t true.

Another case in point: all of those free texting/calling apps use the data network to make calls. There are no restrictions on which type of phone or landline you can call with those apps, are there?

I still think you are confusing VoLTE with HD Voice. HD Voice only works if the other person’s carrier has VoLTE which is interoperable with yours.
