A/V Matrix

I dug up one of my old Philips DSX5500 to activate going through the menu I noticed a A/V matrix I enabled it
I hit the source button on my remote and there is a blank screen .

does anybody know what this function does and how to use it

I have been playing with it I have two of them there is 2 A/V inputs and 2 A/V output
if I connect Out to IN it works but can't change channel or anything so I am guess that is it of this receiver though I might have came across some type of MRV setup

I know nothing of that receiver, but connecting the output to th einput doen't seen right.

You do have it connected to a DirecTV dish, right?
