FIFA, the governing body of soccer, has awarded television rights for upcoming World Cup tournaments to Univision, ABC and ESPN, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Univision will pay more than $300 million for the rights to two men's and two women's World Cups through 2014. Under the terms of a previous deal, which included two men's cups and one women's cup, the company paid $150 million for the rights.

ESPN and ABC will pay $80 million, also double over the previous deal.

The Journal report said that NBC Universal Inc. and Fox submitted bids for the upcoming tournaments.

Univision (NYSE: UVN) is based in Los Angeles. It is the largest Spanish-language media company in the United States. ABC and ESPN are part of Burbank's Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS).
