Adding 4k channels to Directv satellite service

Called customer service to add 4K channels. The rep didn’t seem to know this was an option and then tried to get me to pay $299 for a new Genie. We were told we had the newest genie.

The current receiver is a HR54.

Does anyone know how to add 4k?

You need a C61k client, then the 4k channels will be available. No extra charge for them except the PPV 4k channels. They are from 104-108 I think. Only the client will get the 4k channels for you. Any tv connected to the HR54 will get only the hd channels.

Are they coming out to install ?
If you have more than 1 TV, you'll want to make sure the mini client (C61k) goes on the 4K TV.

No, we are just going to wait until the 2 year upgrade period is over instead of paying $104 or $299. It's disappointing the tech didn't use the 4K boxes at the start!

you have to call in and request em. that's what we had to do. strange they don't offer em on the website or they never did when we signed up!!! just like when you plug in how many t.v.s you have most people will get an HR-54 genie unless they have over a certain amount of t.vs i think it's 6 before the genie 2 pops up

id'e call back and see if they would drop that price even more. we did have our 3rd mini installed for 49.00 but that was at xmas!!!!
