Ok, I'm new here, and I'm sure this has been asked before, but here goes.

I am setup to run 4 recievers. My dish is a 3 lnb, with 4 wires coming out of the dish. If I want to add another reciever, what do I have to do to the dish to add the 5th line?

You can use a WB68 multiswitch which allows for up to 8 connections/tuners. Or you could also go with a SWiM8 module if you wanted, if you have DVR's that are SWiM capable the SWiM needs only one coax run. See DIRECTV Multswitches including 6x8 and SWM Single-Wire Multiswitch for the WB68 and more info on the SWiM module.

you'll need a multiswitch after the 4th tuner off the LNB.

For accuracy, you don't do anything TO the dish.
You add the multiswitch as mentioned above.
The SWM option won't work unless all receivers are capable of using SWM.

yah.. most installs are done with straight cables from LNB to the recievers. if youre lucky that the cables go to a ground block, which SHOULD be done on any install however some dont do this and just run straight to the recievers. if you do got a ground block, put the switch there, and then add your OUT 5 as your 5th cable line to where ever it is going to go.

if you know how to prep cable and fit them.. it somewhere you can get access to it easy... if not, let a pro do it for ya.

i dunno if theres a charge for adding a reciever/line if you already got HD systems. i think there is if your upgrade or install was done this year.
