Awesome site here with tons of great info...

Been a DISH customer for quite some time. Switched to Direct then back to DISH and am happy again.

I recently bought an HDTV and am thinking about adding HD channels to my DISH programming. I currently have the a250 package with local channels and DVR service. I'll be upgrading to an HDDVR and adding the basic HD package(for now).

I'd like to upgrade now in an attempt to catch the MLB games in HD on FSN North but the deal over the phone sucks. The best I could do this morning over the phone was $150 for a 622 or $200 for a 722 with a 24mo contract. I'm only 9mo into my existing 18mo contract so I'm kind of at their mercy.

1)Anyone have any ideas other than calling back every day in an attempt to get a better deal?
2)Does DISH update promotions monthly, meaning could something better be available April 1st?
3)Is there any difference between the 622 and 722 besides the higher storage capacity of the 722?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest waiting until May, when you might hear something about "Eastern Arc."

The ViP722 is black and has an updated chipset which is said to facilitate HD VOD via Dish Online.

Ask for an "Account Specialist"

These are the people in the know, or so the rumor goes...............

The deal I got was to swap my existing 625 for an additional 622 or 722.

( 722 has a larger hard drive)

They said "No Problem". In fact the installer would take care of sending back the old unit. Would get an instant $100.00 rebate. Cost to me.........Nothing.

However, had to opt for a 24 month committment.

The other alternative is to go out and buy your own receiver, ( on-line, etc)......... which would negate the 24 months.

Hope this helps.
