I have a VIP622 DVR receiver with dual tuner and 1&2 remote controllers. - If I were to add another LNB to my dish, or set up a separate dish and buy a receiver off ebay, could I then request a card from Dish to have all the subscribed programming viewable on the new receiver?

Does Dish charge for multiple receivers? - Could I just say I lost my card and need a new one, then put it in the new receiver?

what LNB do you currently have set up? Most will handle more than one dual tuner.
DO you know which dish you have?

easiest way is menu 6-1-1 check switch and it says what LNB it is.

dish charges 4.99 for a add'l receiver. If it has an old card, Dish will send you a new one. They are not interchangeable. The new card would be for the new receiver

It is a DPP Twin. - Device: 119 Twin, 110 Twin, 129 Dual

Would I still be able to have TV 1 & 2 on the 622, then have an additional receiver? This would make it possible to view 3 different things on three different TVs at once?

I will have to check the dishes and the coax runs. It is mounted up high, have to bust out the ladder tomorrow.

yes you will still have TV1 & 2 independently

check behind the receiver. If there is one cable coming in and a separator (looks like a splitter but it isnt) then its hooked up properly and you have room for one more cable

There is only one coax coming into the receiver. There is a separator out right off the dish. I can't see the setup very well. Will have to check it tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity, and person could have another dish setup as well right? Like on the other side of their house or property. - Then call in and give Dish the receiver info and add on the $4.99 to their sub? I am not looking to do this, but just curious. The info is in the card and receiver, correct. They don't care what dish you use, correct?

DISH now charges $5.00 for an additional SD receiver and $7.00 for an additional HD receiver. DIRECTV still charges 4.99 per extra receiver ,regardless of sd or hd status.

DPP Separators are located right behind the receiver, if it were where you state there would be two runs to the receiver. If you are seeing something with coax runs not at the lnb would probably be a switch. Any one Dish Network setup would be set up to allow several receivers on one dish, you would not necessarily need another set of dishes to add one receiver.

But yes, you could put up another dish at the other end of the house if that's more practical than running line from the existing dish.

The "separator" you're seeing at the dish could be a diplexer which at that placement is used either to combine on OTA feed to the 622 or break out the TV2 out from the 622 on the same line as the satellite feed.

Okay, here is a pic of what it looks like. (Credit scottc98 for the graphics)

So I just need a separator and another receiver and I am good to go. Just like below.

Or I could install another dish on its own, as mentioned above. - A lot of options.

If you can put up another dish, then could you have it down the road at another house? Or even in another town if you have two residences?

Anybody doing this?
