Whitesburg, Kentucky
Twenty degrees and the hockey games on
Nobody cares they are way too far gone
Screamin boat drinks, something to keep em all warm

This mornin, I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I got cabin fever
Somebody sound the alarm...

I'm not accustomed to this. A week of single digits and snow every day. It makes me appreciate what you guys up north go through every winter.

After a week of single digit temps
hee hee....we been below that for a couple weeks now in MN

-18 Saturday morning
-21 Sunday morning

its just cold out..takes "project time" to a whole new level (as in do you really want to do that project?)

Cold? I took the kids(dogs) for a sled run all last week in it. They ran 20 miles a day, each day.
They love it and live for it, all 8 of them. Iceberg, do you goto the Beargrease race? That's what I love doing during the winter!!!

We had a bit of snow, and don't complain untill it's well below -25. It was -6 this morning and felt warm!

Iceberg, do you goto the Beargrease race
When I lived in Duluth I did but not anymore (I'm back in the Twin Cities)

Now with alot of snow on the north shore this year I might have to go back :)

Been cold in southern ohio too. Highs in the low 20's all week and a couple inches of snow. Hey can someone invent a windsheild washer system that doesn't freeze at 25 degrees lol? I thought about Iceberg when I was watching the weather for places in the frozen north....All I can say is forget the driveway, keep the snow off them dishes...spring is only a few months away! Blind,

Try this recipe:

Per pint: 2/3 volume of 99% Isopropyl alcohol and 1/3 distilled water (or substitute 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol) with 3 drops Amway L.O.C. (or substitute a good dishwash detergent), add to this a pinch of rock salt (ground fine to dissolve in the mixture quickly).

Use this mix in your washer reservoir or in a spray bottle.

EDIT: Don't use any more L.O.C. or salt than what I state here. Anymore won't make it work any better and WILL just result in a smeary mess on your widndsheild. Trust me, I tried it and found out first hand. You just need a little dab of each.

We're not too far behind you, Ice. -12 to -16 F for lows several days in a row now. It's not so bad if there is no wind to go along with it. But, any temperature which requires you to wear more than a Tee-shirt and cutoff jeans is too cold and any temperature that is too hot to wear the same outfit is too hot.

Did you know, those new energy saving CFL's (compact flourescent lamps) don't like to light up very well when it is less than -10F? It took about 15-17 minutes for mine to "wake-up" and another four to six minutes to get to full brightness.

I'm listening to the weather channel as I type this, and if you guys want to feel "sorry" for someone, pity us here in Arizona. We're in for some really tough weather today, Tuscon 78, Phoenix 75, Chandler 72, Bullhead City 65, Kingman (17 miles away) 59. BR-r-r-r.

I've not tried this exact recipe, but I was caught in a pinch one time and used a bottle of 70% isopropyl alcohol mixed with a gallon jug of drinking water. It worked fine at about 20 degrees. (individual results may vary)

Thanks for the info on the washer stuff. I did mix some of the weaker 70%? stuff last year along with water and a little food coloring...Funny thing was the only color food color I had was yellow! I got a few stares lol....Blind

here in MN they make stuff that works to -30

We have summer and winter....summer works to 32 (but will work lower) and the winter works to -20 to -30

You folks are making me want to drive to the Keys, get a raft and go to the island where its warm, live in the 1950's awhile, lol. I saw 14 on my thermometer at 7am, haven't seen that in years and its damned cold here when it hits 14. The thoughts of having that much cold, plus SNOW too, makes me ill.

That L.O.C. IS SOME GOOD STUFF

That sure is the best temperature range.

It's cool here at 72 this morning and will get to 55 this winter before it improves. Summer can easily reach 110 but even that at low humidity is easier to take than 80 with high humidity.

We had 4 degrees a couple of mornings ago. We are expecting snow here..supposedly up to 5 inches starting tomorrow morning. We do not get a lot of snow normally, one big snow fall per season..otherwise it is small 2 " dustings and ...assorted ice/snow mixes.

Channel 19 Cincinnati mentioned that the cold spell will break around January 19/20 with a nice mid winter thaw with temps in the 40's - 50's. Even 35 would feel like a heat wave right about now.
