Hi ,
location sydney australia , 2.3 metre dish lnb set on 5150mhz aiming at Interset 8 (166e). the receiver is a Humax 5400

My problem is a get a full strength bar but nothing on signal quality( BER).I have no idea what BER stands for???.

I have peaked the signal on the sat finder and spend hours trying to get the sattelite. I have eliminated the LNB being faulty as it changes strength if i rotate the lnb in the holder on the dish. when i go to manually tune it looks for a short while then stops.

Any haelp would be appreciated as i am still learning. Boy it is frustrating when you read on the internet it is so easy to tune up a c band sattelite!

Regards Colin

Which LNBF do you have?
Is this an existing & working setup that you are adding a new receiver to, or a completely new setup?

The Quality Meter will only Light-Up if you are properly aligned to a Sat AND the Transponder you have selected in the Set-Up Menu is "Hot".
For Intelsat 8, look for "3740" in the TP list.

BER is Bit Error Rate, and is normally the inverse of the "Quality" meter generally found on most consumer FTA gear. The lower the BER, the better. The higher the quality, the better.
