Been using a Harmony remote for nine months or so. I have programmed it to toggle off (standby) my 722K when I cease "watch tv".
Am I putting undue stress on the HD by doing so (in and out of standby)? I ask because I had to get a new one because the HD went out on the old one about three months ago.

All on/off does is unpower the output drivers. The STB must run the timers and be ready to record and the EHD may be transferring, so most of the electronics must be on and that's why the power consumption does not change much, as reported. Not an Energy-Star appliance.
