The season premier is Sunday! And could it be that it is going to FINALLY be in HD this season? Looks like no The promo during the Superbowl was in full 16x9 format - including footage of some challenges, which got my hopes up (also available on CBS's website Amazing Race Video - The Amazing Race 16 - Promo - CBS.com ). But the footage from the first episode after the promo appears to be in 4:3. Really sad since they go to such amazing places. Still an excellent show though. Looking forward to another season.

Still no HD. Why is it so difficult to film in HD? Heck, they have HD camcorders now.

Phil answered that question last year. Basically, he said they hire a lot of local film crews when they are travelling. He said its hard enough to get a decent crew, let alone find one with good HD equipment.

They probably could do some of it in HD. But a lot of the special cameras they use to do things like getting pictures while they are doing the various detours etc, are not really even SD. Still I would like to see them try to do some of it in HD.
