I know AMC 6 used to be a duel band satellite, what happened to the c-band side? It's not even listed as a c/ku bird anymore on lyngsat.

It was shutdown by the satellite operators because of a power failure. Also IIRR it limited the Ku capacity. Don't know if that was a panel failure or regulator failure(can't remember) and IIRR the expected life was also reduced.
If I find corroborating info I'll post.
EDIT: launched in 2000, expected life 15 yrs, so it's really done it's mission. Any more is a bonus.
http://www.ses.com/4628341/amc-6 only lists Ku. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC-6 list C also.

Last month, SES got a grant from the FCC to extend the license of AMC-6 out to November of 2023. In the application for the extension, SES estimated that the satellite had enough fuel available to operate until June of 2027, but evidently the FCC wasn't willing to extend the license that far into the future, so SES took an extension to 2023 instead.

Details about this can be downloaded here.

W O W, either date would make that a long lived satellite.!!
I think I recall one that went 5 yrs past it's expiry date, but that's it.

I remember when AMC6 had the "Family Radio" dude on there (Harold Camping)
You always thought he was going to die on air (and he was the "world is coming to an end" dude)
