Another external hard drive question....

I bought a dual external hard drive and just installed a 500 gb hard drive in it. I plan on ordering another one later this week. I did plug in the hard drive to my 622 and it reformatted the hard drive. When I install the 2nd hard drive, I assume it will do the same.

My question is, should I wait to move any recordings to the external hard drive until I get the new hard drive? I would hate to lose any recordings I move on there when I get the second one installed.

Also, does anyone know how much time a 500 gb hard drive holds? Thanks.

Why would you loose any recording by moving them now?

As far as space goes MP4 HD takes up about 4GB for an hour...

If you have an external drive case that has two hard drives in it, Dish has expressedly stated that these will not work properly as EHD's - one physical drive per USB connection.
