I haven't before was your receiver on when it come up,do you have a hopper?.....Update...I just got my H3 to check my EHD to.I shut my receiver off and I left my EHD on and after my guide update that EHD check warning come up....

I've been getting a notice lately when I first turn on my H3 saying it's found an external device. I have to click OK and then it goes to the opening screen.
Larry, do you have your EHD or Hub plugged into the 3.0 USB port? It's the bottom one on the back of the H3. That is where it belongs. It sounds like you are sporadically losing continuity between the EHD and H3 and that is why you would see that message.
I have a H3 with a 1.5 T hard drive. I came in the room at 1am and this was on the screen. I didn't try to get rid of it because I didn't know what might happen.
