As if it's not bad enough we have a hurricane coming our way, they had to give it a name nobody seems to agree on how to pronounce

Yes, Hurricanes kill 10x more people than snow storms!
Myth-

An average of about 30 to 120 direct and indirect deaths are officially recorded each year in the United States due to winter storms, extreme cold, and snow-related hazards, though actual numbers vary heavily depending on major seasonal events (such as the historic 2026 and 2021 winter storms where tolls surpassed 100+ deaths)

Official government estimates record an average of about 24 to 47 direct deaths per storm or year from U.S. hurricanes, though recent scientific research reveals the true death toll is much higher when including long-term and indirect effects.

Just earlier this year-

As of Sunday, CBS News has confirmed at least 100 deaths directly caused by storm conditions or weather-related accidents, with officials in numerous states reporting about two dozen additional deaths that appear to be related to the winter weather.

That is my tank for my stand by at my house ( currently being remolded) in Kissimmee, enough for 2 weeks at full power, 4 weeks if we are conservative with our power usage.
Cool setup. Is that a 1,000 gal or 500 gal tank?

I bought a 1,000 tank years ago from a farmer....that way I could price around for lp gas prices. It paid for itself on the FIRST fill-up. It is hooked up to the house but not my gens.

I've been total electric for 10 years but still have my 500 gallon propane tank, use it to fill my 20, 30 and 40 lb bottles.

Case in point, just bought 500 gallons at $2.75/gal so I saved about $1/gal or $500. Only paid $600 for the tank...delivered. We use propane for our Rinnai tankless water heater, clothes dryer, and heaters.

Natural Gas is one of the few things I miss since moving here.

I got an alert from my Radar app that Isaias intensified to a Category 2 storm with 100 mph winds:
At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Isaias was located near latitude 24.4 North, longitude 89.3 West. Isaias is moving toward the northeast near 12 mph (19 km/h). A turn toward the north is expected on Friday. On the forecast track, Isaias is expected to pass to the north of the Yucatan Peninsula through this evening and make landfall along the U.S. northern Gulf Coast within the warning area late Friday or early Saturday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected through early Friday, and Isaias should remain a dangerous hurricane as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast Friday night.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 975 mb (28.80 inches).

So we've got tropical storm Isaias bearing down on us....soon to become a hurricane. What a strange name. Should have just called it Isaiah and been done with it.
Saw this on a newsfeed a few minutes ago: "Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called the name of Hurricane Isaias "weird," and said he plans on calling it Isaiah".

I agree, that's what I've been calling it.

It ain't that hard. E-Sah-E-Ahs. It is a Spanish/Portuguese variable of Isaiah.
It certainly has been hard for most weather reporters.
Isaiah would have been simple, easy, and familiar.

Well....he IS younger than me so it took him some time to catch up :bluesbros

The local news stations are all having hissy fits. The local grocery stores' shelves are empty....gas station lines are long...I-10 is packed.
As for me and my house....I've got steaks and salmon for our Friday night meal, which is very important to us, and all our gas tanks are full. LP gas is topped off and gutters are cleaned out. Also made sure the chainsaw is all ready to go....hopefully won't need it.

One of the really strange things about living in an area where a hurricane is soon coming in is that the weather tonight was near perfect. Beautiful sunset, relatively dry air, and good temps. Tomorrow things will start going downhill real fast. Once the winds begin, they don't let up for some time.

BTW, they are now saying the track is moving towards the east.....MY area. Might end up hitting Ft Walton Beach area.

Yeah but do you have your surfboard waxed up? Some of the best surfing is during a hurricane.
