The hardware was delayed how many years? COVID. Other delays outside his control?
I think he should be cut some MAJOR slack.

Being a tad bit harsh here. Yes, it appears that the 5G gamble didn't pay off, but the fact that Dish had a cell company at all was nothing really short of brilliance on Ergen's part. He was able to leverage a merger of two other companies to get a mobile company of his own. That was outrageous. It was Charlie's goal to become a revolutionary leader in the 5G market and be a top dog facilities based provider, and as of right now they are still a facilities based MNO and will be for a while until the sale of the spectrum gets approved, So it's only fair to compare the failure that is Dish Wireless to their peers until they are 100% officially an AT&T MVNO.
The experiment failed, Dish really has no reason to keep Boost long term. Comcast and Charter use their MVNO agreement with Verizon as a customer retention ploy to keep people from ditching their home internet service. That is not applicable in Dish Network's circumstance. Unless they launch LEO satellite service to compete with Starlink and tie a Boost subscription to that.
They lost subscribers, they gained some back, it's a nothing burger, they are still behind big cable.
And , he got caught in the rapid runup of interest rates when rolling the debt over after cheap money disappearedIt was a gamble, Ergen managed to get a mobile company rollout further than anyone would have thought possible 15 years ago. But the science of 5G and a coronavirus interceded. And that was that.
project genesis was a disaster. handoffs from tower to tower didn't work in our area the phones would just drop offBeing a tad bit harsh here. What hurt Ergen was 5G had technical issues that were destined to prevent it from being what it was advertised as and then the impacts of the pandemic (labor, supply costs -> inflation). Add in Dish's awful capacity to advertise effectively (at all?) and this wasn't going to work, particularly with that much debt hanging over head.

new he's being forced to sell spectrum to pay off debt wich is a good thing. no one should be allowed to squat on spectrum when it could be used elsewhere. direct buying dish for $1.00 never made any sense taking on all of there debt load!!!And , he got caught in the rapid runup of interest rates when rolling the debt over after cheap money disappeared
Not being a tad bit harsh at all. In fact, I think I've been pretty easy on Dish.Being a tad bit harsh here. how in the hell did you make it past the sales deptNot being a tad bit harsh at all. In fact, I think I've been pretty easy on Dish.
Around 500 good, hard working Americans lost their jobs after dedicating the past few years of their lives to attempt to help Charlie's dream come true, only to be spat on. This was a waste of money, time and resources that can never be gotten back, these people could have been employees at more stable companies that actually have a future, not working for a cheapskate who is living in the past. Hopefully these fine folks are able to use their last few years of experience as a stepping stone to work at a better organization.
Oh, and ain't this special, apparently my physical SIM card comes tomorrow, you know for the phone that doesn't have a SIM card slot. F'n idiots. I better not be getting billed for this.
Ok.... smhthe start of dish fading away has just begun!!! i think AT&T will snag up boost mobile subs in the future. people are flocking sling and sat tv service won't be long!!! it will be interesting to see how it plays out... i know dish used to offer sat internets via hugesnet wich was a direct thing back in the day. but now with more modern tech like starlink and amazons sat internets hugesnet and viasat will be gonners in due time. starlink will only get faster and better in time!!! we have been getting around 500 mbps down and 40 mbps up. have no idea on amazons internet pricing or speeds yet i guess it's still in testing...
people are leaving because of lost channles for extended periods of time and if charlie would have invested more into sling he might have had more subs as well.. to me building out his own cell network was costly and it was bankrupting himOk.... smh
Even though HughesNet is owned by Echostar, DishNet Satellite Internet was both rebranded HughesNet and Viasat. I think what service you got under the Dish branding was dependent on where you lived.the start of dish fading away has just begun!!! i think AT&T will snag up boost mobile subs in the future. people are flocking sling and sat tv service won't be long!!! it will be interesting to see how it plays out... i know dish used to offer sat internets via hugesnet wich was a direct thing back in the day. but now with more modern tech like starlink and amazons sat internets hugesnet and viasat will be gonners in due time. starlink will only get faster and better in time!!! we have been getting around 500 mbps down and 40 mbps up. have no idea on amazons internet pricing or speeds yet i guess it's still in testing...
Not sure what you mean by making it past the sales dept. I never talked to anyone in sales either online or in person, I signed up for the account online.how in the hell did you make it past the sales dept?? i could never get past the sales dept since the offers might as well been coming from a snake oil salesman
