Well, if we can't spend 39 billion on T-Mobile...
... at least we can spend 2 billion on some more spectrum:
AT&T's Qualcomm Spectrum Purchase Approved By FCC

They spent $3 billion cash and 1 billion (valuation) in spectrum to not buy T Mobile. I bet some people on the board aren't getting bonuses this year

Stockholders favored the move to drop the acquisition as well as favored the increase in monthly dividends. Presently ATT pays 5.89% while Verizon pays 5%.

Don:

It's not a matter of favoring over disfavor... That's a lot of money to "throw away" on a merger that was going to be an uphill fight all the way. Now I have to wonder, was this a way to destroy T-Mobile without buying the company?

Don:

What if this was all a ploy to devalue T-Mobile to the point that they are thrown into bankruptcy? At that point they aren't viable and could be bought for pennies on the dollar... This is me thinking way way way outside the box.
