Is there anyone in the Atlanta area who is currently using the DISH1000 for
HD Locals (Sat 129)? According to a website on the Echostar website the Azimuth and Elevation for 129 at Zip Code 30143 is 232 and 36 which is almost identical to the Azimuth and Elevation for my current DISH500. I also have an 811 receiver and I am currently getting all of the OLD DishNetWork HD channels beautifully.
I want to get the 211 receiver with the DISH1000 so I can get the Atlanta HD
Locals BUT I do not want to do that if the above DISH1000 Azimuth and Elevation information for my zip code is incorrect.
Can someone help me? Thanks.

I don't know about the accuracy of the elevation data. I am in Marietta and get 129 (from the base of Sweat Mtn). Signal strength is 55-65, but signal does go out in light rain. Hopefully when they put a more powerful satellite there, reception will improve.

Yes, I'm getting my Atlanta HD locals with a Dish 1000.

I still have my old Dish 500 mounted (moved the Dish 1000 to a different area because trees would have caused a problem for 129). The D1000 seems to face the same direction and angle as the old D500. Also, my installer put up a D500 first (the D1000 was not on my original work order) and said all they needed to do was put the new D1000 on when it came in. Not sure if any adjustments were made, but it sounds like there should be no difference between the two.

You aren't looking at a single bird with a Dish 500 or Dish 1000 so the numbers are going to be at approximately 119.5W. Given the number you stated, that looks about right.

I live in Lawrenceville and the technician replaced the Dish 500 and installed a Dish 1000. The 1000 points in the same direction.

What about the Atlanta local sd channels that come from 61.5 such as (pbs, watc, and univision) - If we upgrade to the 129 dish will we lose these from 61.5 or will they install a DPP44 so we get all four birds

I'm sure that they will install a DPP 44 (or other combinations of switches) because they are still required to give you the 61.5 bird while those locals are there. They should be moving soon, but until they do it is the law that you have the opportunity to get them for FREE.

Yep, they had to add a DPP44 to my system for the Dish1000 and my Dish500 pointing at 61.5 (only one LNB mounted). I was getting CBS HD from NY plus the locals from 61.5.

How are you getting CBS HD from NY as that is not a CBS O and O market?

WGCL is very generous in granting waivers.

Really? They turned me down years ago when I requested it ... even twice; think I should try again I guess?

Hoping DISH will move ATL HD locals to 61.5 soon

My luck went like this:
FOX - approved first try on 12/31/2004
CBS - approved second try on 3/23/2005
ABC - approved third try on 7/11/2005 (nice birthday present for me :D )
NBC - denied after 7 tries.

I have since moved back to an address within my physical market so won't be doing the "wait for WXIA to deny me within 5 days" game anymore...

I never got a waiver. I live far enough away that NBC and CBS were available to me without issuing waivers as a DNS. I never pursued NBC since Dish didn't have NBC HD.

I needed an antenna for 61.5 to get CBS HD, so luckily Atlanta had some locals on 61.5. My dish and switches are free because of that, so I was able to get CBS HD for no equipment charge. The system worked FOR me for a change! :D

That is absolutely BS. Their corporate policy is NO WAIVERS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
And yet they gave me one in March '05, and it wasn't by the 45 day default either. Was approved at my dad's house in Flovilla within a week.

per account: CBS-Los Angeles, submitted on 3/21/05, approved on 3/23/05.

I'm getting the Atlanta locals. I live in north Alpharetta. I actually have 3 separate dishes that emulate a "Dish 1000" set up. He was going to move my 110 and merge it with the 129, but my house is in kind of a valley, so the signals wouldn't "bounce" right. My setup is a SW64 with dishes pointed at: 110, 119, and 129 (new HD) with a 211 receiver.
