I never did like Android Auto so I don't have it installed on my smartphone. Anyway, I have a lot of apps on my phone that I rarely use. If I had to pay a subscription for all of them then I would be removing them and get by without them. There's a limit to how much money I have. It's a good thing I don't have to pay subscriptions to every website I visit especially when I rarely visit most on a regular basis. There's a lot of sites that want donations. I use Ubuntu but even when you donate a significant amount of money, you don't get the support you need. And paying all that money for Windows is annoying also. I rarely use Windows but my kids do since they like to do gaming that's only available on the Windows (or Mac) platform. It's just too much to buy high or middle end computers and smartphones and cell streaming service fees than to have to pay all this other money. I may have to trim my expenses because tech is getting too expensive. There are more important things to buy.
