back up DVR 6416 to laptop or ipod?

Can you back up video content from dvr 6416 to a laptop or ipod?

a laptop should be do able
i know i can backup my 6416's to dvdr via dvd recorder

thanks for the response, I am not very technical...I called tech support to ask them and they told me the ports on my dvr are "not active". Does that mean just drop it or is there a way for me to do it? Any help is very appreciated!

you would have to dumb recordings down to sd then hook rca yellow red white from out on 6416 to in on laptop but laptop must have tv tuner.
