We have a DVR508 that we take to our trailer on the weekends. Mostly watch shows that we recorded at home but once in a while live shows. We moved to a new site and a few weeks ago set up the dish and pointed it - everything was working just fine.
Two weeks go by and we are back at the trailer - hook up the DVR508, plug it in and run a check switch. (we have a DP44 switch at home) find that we are not connecting to Port 1 (119), but the Port 2 (110) connection is fine and we can watch shows that are broadcast on 110.
Try this a few more times with no change, so removed the LNB from the dish and connect the cable that runs from the DVR508 to the wall plate dirrectly to the LNB and run a check switch - we see that we are connected to both ports. Plug the cable back into the wall and take the LNB to where we connect a 100 foot and a 50 foot cable together going to the dish and once again all is well. Take it back to the dish and plug it back in - no Port 1, Port 2 is fine and we can view shows on 110.
Seems like the LNB is okay, but the 50 foot cable that is connected to the LNB is bad, but find it odd that we can connect to one of the ports and not the other. Would have thought that a bad cable or connection would affect both ports on the LNB equally.
Planning on replacing the double female connector and the 50 foot section of cable this weekend, but would love to hear of other possible issues we should look at.
Any thoughts?
