Brett Favre streak ends at 297 games

Three years ago, who would have thought a Packers legend's streak would end in Detroit for a Giants-Vikings game??

Strange indeed!

Favre's streak may be over, but it certainly will not be forgotten.

#4 went 18 years not missing a game- a lasting legacy for one of the toughest players to ever play the game.

Like Cal Ripken Jr., How many times did he go out and play when he should not have been out there and actually hurt his teams chances of winning ?

From 1987 at age 26 to 1993 at age 32, Ripkin would go into woeful slumps, but then, he somehow found a fountain of youth at age 33. It should have been physically impossible for a big guy to play shortstop at that age. Ernie Banks never played a single game at short after he turned 31, but Ripkin's batting average was miraculously about fifteen points higher from 1994, at age 33, to 1999, at age 38, than it was for every year from 1987 to 1993 excluding his 1991 monster year. He also lost his hair. Hmmmmm...

Ripken never broke Gehrig's streak.

Anyway, glad to see Favre gone. Hopefully, they will put him on IR and he will quietly (for once) go away.

HUH? He did so break his streak and did it by playing many many more innings than Gehrig did. Gehrig would go out and play an inning just to keep the streak alive. Ripken never did that.

Also tack on the 500+ additional games.

IMHO Jim Marshall streak is more than Brett's. Just factor injury treatment and Marshall hit someone every down. Favre could hand off and avoid hits 20-30 plays a game.

Saw that moments after he was declared inactive "297" collectables were already on his website

Tell'em Mike Golic. :D

Ripken's streak ended August 12, 1994 due to Ripken's greed.

Greed? What the heck does that mean? When I play softball I want to play every inning of every game. Does that make me greedy?
