OLN on Friday said Cablevision Systems agreed to carry the network on its iO service, reaching 1.5 million of its subscribers, which means those subscribers will be able to watch National Hockey League games on the Comcast-owned network.

OLN had been providing digital-tier subscribers of Cablevision and EchoStar's DISH Network a feed but withheld the NHL games, requiring that the operators agree to put OLN on a tier reaching 40 percent of their subscribers. Last week EchoStar balked at those terms and pulled the network entirely.

"We are pleased that we were able to reach agreement with Comcast in a number of areas, including making OLN and its exclusive telecasts of NHL hockey games available to many more Cablevision customers," said Mac Budill, Cablevision's senior VP of programming "This is great news for New York hockey fans," said Gavin Harvey, president of OLN. "We look forward to working together to bring Cablevision's customers the hockey teams they want to see on OLN and all of our other exciting and unique sports programming."
