Cabling......does it ever need replacing?

I cover all my exposed outdoor connections with silicone sealant. Impervious to nature yet peals right off if I need to make a change.

There are holy wars being fought over sealing connectors due to internal condensation. Some people think you should fill the connectors with dielectric grease before you seal it, but doing that makes the silicon not stick anymore if you're not super careful.
What to do?

Dish claims if snap and seal connectors are torqued properly to 30 lb/ft, they will prevent moisture from entering.
That's why we are no longer required to use weather boots.

LOL!! I'm noticing you're not inserting your own personal opinions on that :D

Without giving too much away, my feelings to the current DNS thinking can be summed up in two words...JOB SECURITY.
