I have a Dish 500 setup along with a 61.5 dish for SkyAngel. The trouble is that some Dallas locals are on 148. When I had my 501s, I finally found (after much digging) that I could not get both 61.5 and 148 on the same receiver, even with an extra dish on the roof.

Does anyone know if this is different with the 522? I would love to have all my Dallas locals if I can.

Brad

You can't get both wings at the same time since both birds share the same channel numbers.

You would be able to receive one or the other.

The only exception would be to manually switch cabling between the 61.5/148 dish and do a check switch each time. (Not practical)

There is only one Dallas local on 148. What type of switch do you have? I know the DPP44 specifically says do NOT connect 61.5 AND 148.

with the one channel on 148, dish technically has to supply everything to get it to twork...this might be a loophole because they'll probably shut off the Sky Angel

What are you using right now to get 110/119 & 61.5?

(thought here)
If you have 2 SW21's connecting the 110/119 & 61.5, why couldnt you hook one tuner's SW21 to 148

Tuner 1 would have 110/119 & 61.5
Tuner 2 would have 110/119 & 148

This is a thought...and of course if you have more receivers than this or DishPro, this throws it out the window :)

(by the way...the older receivers could do both...I had 61.5 & 148 on my 5000 a week ago...guide was goofy, but it worked)

Before they migrated Hd off the wings, I had my 6000u hooked only to 148 and 61.5 thru an sw21... And I am currently running 148 and 61.5 thru my dpp44 along with 119 and 110. But my 921 stopped recognizing 61.5 and my 6000u wont pick up 148.... I should get my replacement 501 friday so I might check and see what it gets...

Last I was told is that I could have 148 on one unit and 61.5 on the other. I want the same on both, so I am forgoing the "lost" Dallas channel. I think I have a 43 switch in the attic. It does work a lot better than the 64 switch I used to have. It is much more stable. :)

I know a member on here, ocnier, has listed in his signiture that he has 61.5, 110, 119 and 148 going to his 921, I think via a DPP44. I remember seeing somewhere that the EPG has something in it that says which satellite is the 'main feed' for a channel if the same channel is coming from more than one sat.

As for DFW, the missing channel on 148 is channel 29, an indepentant channel that used to be daystar (which moved to channel 2) and is now an independant spanish channel.

Did channel 2 vanish? I never could get it very good OTA anyway, and it was just a second PBS station. I already have Daystar on SkyAngel (at least for now, <grin>), so I am not worried about that. It sounds like I don't really need to worry about this since I don't watch Spanish-language TV. :)

My new 501 shows all 4 Sats...

Yeah, KDTN-2 got dropped in the Daystar cleanup that Dish did. They got rid of most (if not all) of the local Daystar Affiliates and replaced it the generic Daystar feed on 9408.
