Can I use a Direct TV Satellite Dish with a Dish Network Receiver?

JUst wondering is it possible to use a direct tv satelite dish with a dish network receiver? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If its the old 18" with the one LNB, you can use it for one satellite

You cannot use a Phase III with a Dish Network receiver...wrong setup

Yes a DirecTV 18" dish can be used with a Dishnetwork receiver for legal pay channels, but you will not get many FTA channels, see the below link, welcome to the forum!

He's not asking about FTA....he's asking if he can use a Directv Dish & LNB with a Dish Network receiver

Yeah - it's just not worth the effort. Just replace the D* dish with an E* D500 - you should be able to reuse the mount if that's a concern.

Thanks for the comments. I therefore take it that I am better off buying a new dish than trying to use the direct tv dish that I have?

Yep.. it's the only way you'll get any programming beyond AT60.

My question was answered reading the replies but now I have an additional question. I am obviously new but what does FTA mean also what does AT60 mean?

AT60=America's Top 60
