can I use wing dish to receive 121 or 118.7?

I already have dish1000 (110, 119, 129), but in order to receive international channels (great wall package), I need one additional sat - 118.7, I called Dishnet, and they said dish1000+ is now only available through retailers, they cannot put work order for dish1000+ yet. so
(1) any guess on when they will have dish 1000+ for order?
(2) can I use a separate wing dish to point to 118.7 or 121 (wish it won't go over soon)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

2. no you cannot use a wing dish for 121 or 118.7

121 is a lower powered satellite and requires a 30”+ dish

118.7 uses an oddball LNB type and only Dish has them as part of Dish500+ and Dish1000+

thanks Iceberg.. my next question will be can I install a 500+ (110, 118.7, 119), then add a wing dish to receive sat 129?

yep...lots of people have a single dish at 129 due to the screwy signals they get with a D1000

You may not need to do that. Initial reports are that the 1000+ is getting much stronger 129 signals than a regular 1000.

I haven't looked up the "Great Wall Package" to see where it is broadcasting, but I suspect you can get it on 61.5 and/or 148. If not all of it, maybe part of it.

If so, then maybe the way to go would be a wing dish for 61.5/148. Then later if you get the Dish 1000+ (or Dish 500+), you could use the wing dish for 129.

Just checked and the full "Great Wall" package requires 121 or 118.7

bits and pieces of it are on the wings too..

so all great wall channels are on 121 or 118.7 only but some are on all 4 slots (121, 118.7, 61.5, 148)

i had a Dish installer at my apt this morning to set-up a Dish 500+. he showed up and then said that he doesn't have the 500+. I got upset. I said why'd you even come over here then?! i saw how the work order said 500+ kit right on it. he said his place (_________ DNCSC) doesn't have the + Dishes yet. he radioed one guy who said 'just set him up with a 500' & another said he can get them on the wing dishes (untrue). i can see how people get upset with Dish service. he also called Dish and we rescheduled my install for a little over a week away. hopefully they will have the 500+ by that time.

Iceberg - Thanks for checking. It looks like the Great Wall Package has the same issue with the Korean Variety Package.

I can get all 6 channels of the KVP on 61.5 or 148, but only 4 channels on 121. It appears they are putting all 6 on 118.7. Part of my reason I would like to upgrade my SuperDish 121 with the repoint kit.

Read my thread here on the D1000+. I am very satisfied with the 129 performance so far. 118.7 is working good too.

Where can I get dish 1000+? which one is cheaper - let dishnetwork upgrade, or buy the equipment and DIY? I called dishnet, they said they don't have 1000+ in stock so I have to order from retailer.

All I can say is, 500+ or dish 1000 is not widely available, dealers does has to call every where to get a complete system.

Sure if you can get a upgrade from dish, you save alots. dish 1000 plus dp44 switch, you already save over $400 .

We're averaging 75-85 signal on 129 on our DISH 1000.
