I have a voom stb with software 5.68 on it. Can I use it as on OTA only STB? This would work perfect just to get the locals in HD.

Thanks!

Since you have it, why not just go ahead and try it? But no, I hear they don't work at all unless activated by Voom - who won't activate it unless you actually subscribe to Voom.

5.68? I don't think so. If I remember correctly, this version will lock out OTA channels the moment it is unplugged...

Can I just point the dish and upgrade the software and then use it for ota channels? I have all the equipment but I no longer sub to voom.

I am not trying to hack or anything like that I just don't feel that the service is worth it and I want to use the hardware for something...

Thanks

You would have to be re-authorized to get the update, I think.

THe instant you pointed it at the sat to get an update it will turn off your card, which will render the OTA useless anyway.
