Cancel Dish for better Deal?

Hey All,

I have been using Dish now for over 2 years and I really want to keep the service but can't afford it right now. I was wondering if you think it would be worth it for me to cancel my service since its been 2 years and start it up again for a deal??

I was paying for a deal at first but the past year have paid over $90 a month which has become too much for me. I had 2 standard boxes and 1 DVR box with Bronze 100 Plus programming which ends up running over $90 over taxes and DVR fees and leasing costs....

Suggestions?
If your paying 90 per month for Bronze 100 plus, Your getting ripped off.
I have the Classic 250, with HD Gold, a Vip 612,622,211, with the protection plan,Ktla for $99.94 per month including Tax.

Really? How the heck did you manage that deal? What are you paying for the separate components?

So I called a few more times and they said they couldn't do anything in terms of cost or anything.
My DSL gave me a $5 dollar credit a month for 12 months though....so I am saving money somewhere.

Classic 250 DVR HD Gold
$77.99. Includes locals and 1 DVR.
$12 for my other HD DVR
$7 for my 211k
$6 for Protection Plan
$1.50 for KTLA
Total $104.49
$10 Credit for 4 of 12 for customer Loyalty
Total $94.49
Plus Tax = $99.98 sorry I was .04 off

two hd dvrs, two hd televisions, dsl, and your crying about your bills?

how much is your cellphone bill too?

sorry but no sympathy here.

"i don't want to pay a reasonable price for a service so i'll get feedback on scamming a company before i actually spend within my means."

I wasn't asking for sympathy or trying to scam anyone. Is it so wrong to try and cut back on expenses?

You always this mean to people?

Thanks everyone else for the help! Dish has been great in helping me customize my service to save some bucks.

you're trying to get a new customer promotion which the rules clearly state you don't qualify for. that costs dish hundreds of dollars. how is that any different than satellite piracy.

I recently put my on Dish Pause. I thought it was gonna be free. :D but I think its like $10 a month or something like that. I can still get the free channels. NASA, etc.

Did I ever say I was going to try that scam? Once I was told I had to wait 6 months to re-instate Dish I was over that plan. I never intended to pretend my wife or whatever wanted to sign up right away.

Way to jump to conclusions though. But feel free to be angry in life if you want, I want try to stop u

Is this the permanent price or a temp price (other than the $10 discount, of course)? I've been paying about the same as Efenili for Bronze 100 with only one HD DVR but with HBO and Cinemax (and HD Platinum, which is only for HDNet Movies now that MGM HD started showing commercials).

A Comcast sales guy just came by unsolicited and offered me the top tier channels, HBO and Starz/Encore plus high-speed Internet for $90/month for a year. Hard to argue with that. I'm not a fan of Comcast, but to save that much for a year (by canceling my $50/mo Internet), I think I'll make the switch. The deal is targeted at satellite customers, but I have no idea how widely it's being offered.

This is the Normal price.
Don't go to comcast, you will be sorry. Unless you don't like HD or DVR.;)

Thanks for the tip/warning. While I know from word of mouth that their DVR totally sucks, I'm really quite tempted to try it out just to take advantage of the deal and gain first-hand knowledge of just how bad it is. After all, I'll save a lot of money if it's good enough to cope and since it requires no commitment, the worst case scenario is that I cancel after a month and tell them that even with the bargain price, their service isn't worth it. (The deal also includes a phone line, but that's not a draw for me because we don't use a landline.) Also, they include more of my favorite channels in lower tiers, not that it matters since I'll be getting them all, but if I want to cut down in the future it'll be less painful.

I love HD, but the only channels I'm really going to miss are HDNet and HDNet Movies. (It's nice to have all the HBOs in HD, but to be honest I don't watch them all that much since they often show films in the wrong aspect ratio.) Cancelling will also give me the chance to express my displeasure with MGM-HD for showing commercials.

The salesman's line for missing channels is that I'll be enjoying On-Demand that I won't notice the channels I don't have. Yeah right. The other funny thing is they claim more HD programming, presumably from On-Demand, but there's no way in hell they come close in terms of HD channels.

So yeah, if I switch it'll be more an experiment with a bargain price/programming upgrade, and I'll be able to decide how bad Comcast really is first-hand without worry of a commitment.

PS I know this tangent doesn't relate very much to the OP, but it does fit the subject "Cancel Dish for Better Deal?"…so there. :)

Dish

I just signed up with Dish for American Programing.. Been with Dish for 10yrs but had left to Cox for a year do to a promo. Kept my international channels active to keep my status with Dish.

Cox had a massive rate hike after adding 15 new HD channels so I called Dish and got a good deal from talking with the Dish Account Specialists. The normal Dish CSR were charging me $75 a receiver with no added discounts!!

Trubo HD Gold with Classic 250 + locals in HD

1. 722 HD DVR Duo (free)
2. VIP 211K HD Solo ($25)
3. VIP 211K HD Solo ($25)
4. $6 for Protection Plan
5. $7 for the two other HD receivers ($14 receiver fee)
6. $ 10.00 off for 12 months.
7. HBO & Stars free for 3 months
8. Cinemax for a penny for a year (already have this promo which dish keeps extending for a penny).

A total of $ 76.99 for 12 months, and $86.99 for the second year.

Even after verifying the order twice the Dish account specialists (since I spoke with two different people) gave there Rep IDs, and said keep these, and call us at the is number if you problems with anything.

I thank Dish for keeping loyal to a long time customer of 10yrs!! :)
