I am a Nikon guy but my sister in law has the same camera and the rebel xsi while a little heavy ( like all canons compared to Nikons ) it takes some amazing shots and 600+ shipping is a great price for it.

From what I know it is the other way around. The Canon is a little lighter than the Nikon.

That is the only bad part about SLR's. Once you get invested in one brand it is hard to jump ship over to another.

Nikon depending on DSLR class are typically lighter what I would classify as High end Pro grade dslr ( D3x ) is on the heavy but on almost all consumer grade dslr nikon are lighter mainly to ti the image sensor the AF motor in the lenses and a few others.

Shooting with Nikon and then go over to canon it not alot heavier it just feels slightly beefier is the best word to discribe it.
