I'd like to add that if you do it the other way around (DPP44 first) and then cut power to the DPP44, the DP34 also loses signal. If you put the DP34 first, as long as the DP34 has at least one DP receiver connected to it the DPP44 continues to have signal.

Ok...now here's one. What if you cascade a DPP44 into a DP34...will the DPP44 still behave with DPP tech...or will it behave with DP tech? I.e., will you need two lines to feed a dual-tuner?
What SatinKzo said, you don't lose any DPP capability by having a DP34 on either side of a DPP44.
I don't like the DPP44 in front because if for whatever reason you remove power to the DPP44 the whole setup goes down.

I tried to hook up the dp34 to the dpp44 by connecting the switches on the additional switch side and ran a check switch and it did not find anything. What is the best way to hook these up? Do you connect input 1 to input 1? Any help figuring this out would be appreciated.
Do you have the power inserter on port 1 of the DPP44? You must have it on port 1 or the DPP44 won't get you anything.
outputs on right side of the first switch go to the inputs on the left side of the next one. and so on.
stupid question why wouldn't it be the 44 into the 34? and shouldn't dish network make public there installation dish/switch calculator?

because as many have mentioned, if you have the DPP44 before the DP34 and you unplugged the power inserter, you would lose signal to EVERYTHING... if you have the 34 first, then to the 44... and unplug the power inserter, you will lose signal to whatever receivers are hooked up to the 44... the 34 would still work
As for Dish making their installation stuff public... They probably dont think they need to. They don't sell their equipment outright anymore, any new systems are supposed to be put in by an "installer" that should know what their doing...

makes seance to me so far! and i now know i will use 2 dpp44's and power both of them. I'm going to run the lines all the way inside then make a little board to put the switches and grounding blocks on out of the elements! if you have the proper need can dish try and not give you 2 dpp44's. i have a 7100/7200/501/508/2-301's. they are bringing the vip622 and dish1000+. I'm requesting 2 dpp44's and 2 signal separators to use the vip622 on a single line. and 2 dpp21's to add the dish300 to get sat 148west. that's a lot of equipment. I'm shire i will have to be really nice to the guy to get it all. but am i in the right to get this, if it comes down to a pushing match? my programing is the platinum hd with locals, the super stations, all four distance network city's, the German channels, booth guides, and the dhpp. about $175.00 per month! is there another way it can be done that they will try? and is this the best solution? is running the vip622 on one line as good as running 2 separate lines? and last but not least the dish1000+ info said it will work with the older 7100/7200 and then later says its not compatible with them. which is it? do i need the dp adapter? the switch info says no. sorry for so many questions but its a complicated setup four 5Sat's and 8 tuners!
what you're paying monthly they ought not blink at a few extra pieces of equipment but you never know.
