DIRECTV doesn't carry the national feed of UniMas East on satellite or stream, only the West Coast national feed on channel 408 and the local feed in select markets.Obviously, if one lives on the East Coast we should be able to get the UniMas- East feed if it is available on Stream, which apparently it is.
Thanks ! But when I lived in Miami DTV Stream did not carry WAMI 69 in the local package... So I still would not be able to see WAMI now even if my ISP location registered the Miami DMA. Where would Stream be finding WAMI to list it as a channel option ?DIRECTV doesn't carry the national feed of UniMas East on satellite or stream, only the West Coast national feed on channel 408 and the local feed in select markets.
WAMI showing up might be a GeoIP detection issue since West Palm Beach is close enough to Miami that some ISPs don't give it a separate range.
Ok, thanks, that might be what's happening...... I'll check out those MiEspanol packages to see if WAMI is in there--- which would explain the "Subscribe" tag in the Guide.WAMI is available in both markets, satellite customers in West Palm Beach get a mirror.
Up until recently the UniMas locals weren't available in the streaming packages, they might have made them exclusive to MiEspañol
Thanks, KyL416 .... can you check whether WTCN on Satellite has also been switched to the SD simulcast from WTVX ?WTCN-CD is a 15 kW Class A station, they're probably now ingesting it via the SD simulcast on the full power WTVX 34.3
Very interesting to hear this, thanks for the background !They never carried it in HD on sat. In general, on satellite Class A/LPTV and subchannels tend to only be carried in SD unless they are the market's Big 4 affiliate since the offer HD carriage to one, offer HD carriage to all rule only applies to full power primaries.
Being on the coast WTCN-CD's low power signal might have been getting wiped out by atmospheric boost on a semi-regular basis as in the right conditions the water can act as a conduit to Florida and bring in signals from as far away as the Carolinas, Texas and the Caribbean Islands, so they switched to WTVX's full power simulcast.
Thanks ! Well, if any station group can afford to do this it would be Sinclair, they own 4 stations in the market. It's on the station to pay for a fiber or dedicated IP connection, most markets are ingesting their locals OTA.
