This guy could do it all. He was in several of the Xmas movies I have been watching this month, but I remember him best as the governor in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas singing halls of the Texas Capitol.

I will never forget Charles working opposite Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon. Their scene outside the bank (Attica, Attica, Attica) was simply electrifying. What a great, and very busy, character actor!

A prolific characters actor - one of my favorites. We lost two treasures this weekend with the passing of Jack Klugman and Charles Durning. Although he was in more than 200 movies and television series, his acting career didn't start until he was almost in his forties. R.I.P.
