Charter claims they are going to provide better pricing

How are sales and use taxes allowed? The law clearly states "The ITFA now prohibits all state and local taxes on internet access."

The cost recovery fee is a different topic.

I wouldn't say they didn't get the memo, I would say they are ignoring it.
I would guess that they are piecing out some portion of the service and separating it from the internet for tax purposes. For example, they may be taxing the "Active Armor" service. State Sales Tax on $3.36 is $.21, so they may be charging $3.36 for the service.

Anyhow, that's why I asked the sales person if there were any taxes or fees added, so she would know what to expect on each monthly bill. I guess lying is just part of working in that industry.

we just dumped rectrum after the bills kept climbing we got a 10GB fiber connection for 59.99 a month for the first year...
I'd do the same in a heart-beat, IF I had that option. Spectrum has been sneaking UP our rate .50 cents to $3.00 every 4 months. Next bill it'll be $85 a month. I have no other good options, beyond TDSNET DSL, which SUCKS, and is locked down pretty good on things they don't think you should have access to... Plus, you have to also pay for a monthly land-line AND the DSL internet.

our bills kept jumping up every month.. ofcourse no deals so we canceled. ofcourse they wanted to know our deal we got we told em. they said they can't touch that. what really pissed me off is the rep in tech support said there was an update. i told him i ran my own hardware and asked him if that would be an issue. he said no and he bricked my modem into a bootloop!!!

This is the Telco/ISP on Beaver Island, and I finally have found a worse telephone company than GTE after all these years. Sorry you have to deal with them full-time…

They are also the provider here in Sanford since the '90's. They are terrible! I DON'T deal with them anymore! I got an Ooma Telo in 2014, and just had to replace that first one about 2 months ago, when it finally died. Only about $5 a month in statutory fees, versus (in 2014) $35 a month for POTS "local" service via TDS Telecom

You have to call Spectrum whenever your promo is up and threaten to cancel. That's when you'll get a deal to stay. In my case I called last year when my Internet Premier plan was going to jump from $50 per month to $85. I told them I wanted to downgrade to the 100 Mbps $30 plan and instead they offered me a deal to stay with Premier at the my current price for 2 years.

That doesn't work here, since they KNOW they have no competition. All they offer if you try it (I have) is to cancel the account completely, or leave it the way it is. They can't be persuaded, and they don't care if you cancel or stay.

Correct, when Charter started to offer less expensive pricing, told me to basically kick rocks.

Soon as Fiber became available in my area, I switched, then they were willing to make any deal to prevent that.

Also, soon moving from Kissimmee to Lakeland, Florida, also a Charter/Spectrum area, along with Frontier Fiber, you would not believe how inexpensive it is, with both in competition with each other.

Well look at that. Cox decided to lower their prices and remove the data cap now that Kinetic fiber is available in my neighborhood. I probably would have stayed with Cox fiber if they had done that 6 months ago when I asked for them to remove the data cap or I would switch to Kinetic. Got the we can't do that answer so they immediately got the cancel my service request. Kinetic has been great and the Cox flyers come every 2 weeks wanting me to come back. Even with Cox lowering their intro prices they are still more expensive than Kinetics regular price.

I have Starlink as a backup. Cancel Spectrum for a month or two and go back with a new customer promo.
