Chicago residents - I need some advice

My wife, 18 month old son and I are taking our first family vacation. We are heading to Chicago the 3rd week of September since my wife has never been there and I love Chicago.

Anyway, we will be there right before my wife's birthday and I was hoping you could give me some advice where would be a nice place to take her and my son for dinner. We aren't looking to break the bank, but I would like to go to a nicer place that would be family friendly since we would taking our son.

We are staying right downtown and will have our car so either downtown or right outside of would be fine.

Any advice would be helpful.

Navy Pier has many good restaurants. Pizzeria Uno, Webber Grill, are a couple that come to mind also

I was gonna recommend navy pier also Also Wrigley Ville is good too, although I would stay away from the White Sux.

I've been to the Cheesecake factory, webber grill, rosebud, bella bacinos and a few others I can't remember. For family atmosphere that won't break the bank, I would go to webber grill. The portions are ridiculous though.
