Not sure if this was address anywhere or not. Believe it or not, I don't know how I would do this. How could this be done? Or, can it be done without having to run an extra line of coax.

I wanted to do the same thing for a relative who currently has Direct TV , and learned that you can't combine 2 satellite signals thru one coax , you can combine satellite with cable TV and or OTA antenna using a combiner.

Also a Diseqc switch could not be used either , Direct TV would not work with it, correct me if I'm wrong.

It would be nice if it could be done , less drilling holes and one less cable to feed and fish thru the wall.

Perhaps this thread would be helpful:
http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=89154

esteps

techno935 said:

Not sure if this was address anywhere or not.
Please define what DBS service is in use.
And which dish / lnb combo you have.

DirecTV uses some 22khz switching, in some cases.
Dish uses some diseqc switching, in some cases.
So, without knowing more, it is impossible to recommend an electronic switch.

The use of an A/B switch is ... an invitation to problems.
For normal operation, both Dish and DirecTV receivers expect to be connected 100% of the time to their dish.

The best and most reliable answer, with the least chance for trouble, is another coax, in my opinion.
