Which is Versant (stupid name).

Since this is the last year for new scripted shows on SyFy, USA has already eliminated them ( will share shows from SyFy), how long can these stations last as pure rerun channels.

By separating them from NBC, when negotiations are due, it will be easier for providers to lowball per sub fees or just get rid of them.

Why is it stupid? People thought "Verizon" was stupid when GTE merged with NY Bell (Nynex). Now "Verizon" is synonoymous with quality phone service.

Absolutely disagree! Verizon was NOTHING but trouble for us! We had wired phone service and DSL with them for about 15 years at our present location. When we first moved in they had failed to connect the line and we were without service for days until that was resolved. We repeatedly had issues with the worn out copper lines causing noise in phone calls during rain and DSL loss. The topper was when we had an ice storm and it knocked the lines down completely. They propped up a PATCHED line over a road sign and through tree limbs with a promise of finally replacing it. That never happened despite numerous calls with more promises of a fix over a period of YEARS!

We were SO glad when the local cable company began offering service to our location a couple years ago. We have had no issues at all with them and would NEVER EVER under any circumstances consider any kind of service with Verizon again!

That was Land Line service, which is 1000% different than Cell service.

My point exactly, service is service and they were paid to provide it for us. They should not get to pick and choose which they want to maintain.
Land line is 100's of years old, I'm surprised it works at all.
FWIW, what you described is the same with any local landline service from any of the companies prior to Voip.

Maybe so but that doesn't make it right to $crew a customer for a service they are paying them for. :(
I could explain further how that set up works, but it wouldn't make you any happier ...

Have you never had bad service from a company before ?
It happens .... doesn't make it right, but sometimes it happens.

I think pretty much everyone knows how it works. Verizon takes millions of tax-payer dollars to install and maintain landline services and then doesn't do what they promised to get the money in the first place. The big difference between this and most other companies is Verizon is a regulated monopoly in the markets they serve with landline service. I'd say that is very much not right, and I am not inclined to just shrug that off. Some states have made them meet their commitments or return the money while others have not, and the FCC has done almost nothing about it no matter who is in charge of it.

To a lesser extent, other landline companies have followed suit, with Frontier being the most obvious example. In any case, if a company provides bad service, I am not likely to do business with them again, but that really isn't an option for landline service in most places. You're stuck with who you have.
