This might be a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. We are conserving upgrading to the the Hopper. I have seen the new Dish Explorer app and it looks like it might be useful. However the Hopper has to be connected to the Internet for the app to work and we are not able to connect the Hopper via Ethernet. So here is my question. Does the Sling Adapter connect the Hopper to the Internet or do I have to buy the USB Wifi Adapter to connect the Hopper to the Internet?

would you have a spare coax in the same room as a router or ethernet in the same room as a joey? If so, then the installer can set you up with a HIC.

If a wifi adapter is needed for connectivity, the tech will provide it for free during the install.

you can check out the wiring diagrams here: http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=279755

The Sling Adapter does NOT connect the Hopper to the Internet. You could do that with a direct Ethernet line, Wifi adapter or a Hopper Internet Connector which would be connected to the coax line as part of the install and also connect to your router.
