Maybe it's just me, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed this and/or had a possible fix. I have an indoor OTA antenna that works pretty well - most of the channels are in the 70-80 range, but sometimes it flakes out and I have to move the antenna around a bit to avoid losing the signal (local Fox is particularly sketchy and I gotta have my "24"...)
So, when I'm doing this I get the big yellow warning that the signal has been lost and then I move the antenna and get the signal back.
Here's where the 942 starts to freak out. If I do this "enough" - say the error comes on 5 or 6 times while I'm trying to find that magic spot for the antenna - the 942 will begin to die. The first symptom is that the video goes out on all channels (HD OTA, HD Satellite, SD satellite, even playback of recorded events) but the audio remains.
If this doesn't happen, then after some use I lose control of the remote. I'm still getting whatever's playing, but the remote doesn't respond. And then, after another minute or so, the whole thing finally locks up completely.
I then turn it off and let it reacquire the satellite signal. Unfortunately, the first time it does this I noticed that instead of going through the 5 tests on a "spotbeam," it instead does so on a "transponder" (can't remember the numbers). When it's done, I still don't have the video but the remote and audio work again. And then I turn it off and on again (holding down the power button) and it goes through the satellite signal acquisition (on "spotbeam" this time) and all is once again well in the world.
The only time the 942 ever has problems is in that time shortly after I've futzed with the antenna and had it the OTA fail on me.
Any of this sound familiar? Any other remedy anyone can think of other than turning it on and off?
Thanks.
