Converting VIP722 IR1 remote to UHF

yes, you can switch tv 1 to ir/uhf control if you have another rf remote. I don't remember how, it should be in the manual, but I use a second uhf remote for tv 1 on my 722

its completely possible. dish will send you a kit if you request one.
ask for the ir to uhf upgrade remote.
do you have a 2nd uhf remote?
then sometimes you can use that.
find tv 1 uhf pro setup in your receiver menu.
enable it.
go to system info from that screen via the sys info tab
us ir remote to arrow up to tv 1 remote address
press record on your spare uhf remote.
ensure it changes the adress, and changes to ir/uhf. also, ensure it did not simply adress itself to the tv 2 (that the tv 2 remote addy did NOT change) this can happen if you are not in the right box when you hit record. and finally make sure the addresses are different. change it by holding down sat till they light up. enetr a random number. hit pound. hit record.
this works on 625's every time
some 722's have trouble with this, but an upgrade remote from dish will work for sure.
hope thats somewhat clear.

The easiest & least expensive solution would be to get the new 21.0 remote. It'll have TV1 working on IR and UHF in minutes. $19.99 + $5.95 shipping from Dish. See the 21.0 learning remote instructions at the top of page for info.
