History Channel/Battles BC Interactive
DishHOME Interactive TV
Channel 100

On Wednesday, March 4, 2009, DISH Network ITV launched the History Channel/Battles BC interactive application on DishHOME channel 100 and via triggers on History Channel 120 (Standard Definition Only). The History application will be available to all customers with STB models: 111, 222, 222k 301D, 301E, 311, 211, 211k, 322, 351, 381, 411, 501, 508, 510, 522, 612, 622, 625, 722, 722k, 811, 3900, and 4900.

The History Channel/Battles BC interactive is an enhanced TV, bottom 1/3 screen application containing dynamic content and functionality based on current programming being broadcasted on the History Channel. During the broadcast of the Battles BC program, the experience will feature synchronized content including a trivia/strategy game allowing the user to achieve military rank based on their performance.

“Battles BC” uses a stunning graphic style comparable to “300”, the hit feature film, to show leaders from the ancient world in some of the greatest conflicts in history. The series brings to life the strategies; tactics and weapons used by classic commanders such as Hannibal, Moses, Alexander and David, and also expose the truths and myths behind the ancient world of epic heroes and villains. Throughout each episode, viewers’ knowledge of the battle strategies that shaped ancient history will be tested. Using their remote control, History Channel viewers will be able to access information, review the biographies and credentials of on-camera historical experts, and view a gallery of images highlighting the production aspects of the program series. In addition, a game synchronized to the content of each episode allows viewers to play along – testing their knowledge of strategic choices made during history’s greatest battles.

When “Battles BC” is not on the History Channel, customers will have the ability to go interactive on History Channel and get “This Day in History” facts, daily questions related to History programming content, and the ability to set DVR timers and recorders for upcoming History Channel primetime programming. Customers will also have the option to minimize the application while watching the video.

This feature will be available 24/7 for 10 weeks

“Battles BC” Episodes:
Premieres on Monday, 3/9 at 9pm ET; 1 hour show
Every Monday at 9pm ET for 10 weeks/ Replay will at 1:00am ET

People don't want interactivity on their TV. It seems cable and dish companies have been trying for years to make it some sort of interactive thing.

It's wrong kind of interactive. Everybody I know LOVES weather apps or movie theater info, even interactive weather stuff, but all the other junk might be something for the younger generation, but grown-ups just want to watch the show and have all the other "crap" clear of their TV screen.
