couple of questions from dish noob

I have a 722 and When I turn on my tv I get the dish splash screen and hit button to view.
Can this just go to the guide or to the channel without this screen?

Is there a way in all sub list to click on a channel to add it to a favorites list?

couple of friends with comcast talking about AMC HD....will we be getting this?

The splash screen means the receiver is in standby mode, it must be turned on for any of the receiver's features to be used. In other words, "No, you cannot go directly to the guide or channel from this screen."

Don't know of any shortcuts to add to favorites.

Typical answer here is 'hopefully' or 'soon' when asked about new HD channels.

You could get a universal TV remote (e.g., Logitech Harmony) that when programmed, automatically turns on all your devices with one button. Therefore, the 722 would be turned on with the TV and no splash screen.

Or you can set the device so it never goes into standby mode, and set an auto tune timer to wake it up every morning after the nightly guide download.
