For those in in Il, KY, TN, and MO hit hard by the ice storm you maybe be able to get credit on your next bill if you went without power. I really hadn't planned on calling since it really wasn't a dish problem but a friend told me Direct was crediting them so I thought I would give it a try. It was relatively easy. Even though I have had a few complaints with Dish, this was a surprising plus.

I was without power for 2 days due to the ice storm. But, I don't see how that is Dishs' problem. Their equipment was here and everything was in good working order. It's not their fault that I didn't have electricity to be able to use it!

I have some food that I couldn't eat because I didn't have electricity for my stove to cook it. Maybe I should ask Oscar Meyer and Green Giant for some credit?

Why didn't you hire a lawyer and sue them?

Come on guys and have a heart. My power was only out for a day, but I will not ask for a credit.

There are those whose power is still out. It's an emotional, physical, and financial drain to be without power.

If the satellite TV providers want to help people out and give a credit then that is a good idea especially on what would be called a luxury item (TV) and not a necessity (food). It will create customer loyalty so it's a win win for both.

I agree that it is a good faith gesture to offer refunds to people who were without TV for an extended period. I don't think it is worth a call for a few days credit though. Anything over 5 days would be appropriate IMO. I was in an ice storm disaster area this winter and it does create hardship. It is not like DISH can't afford it.

Well I was out of power for almost 7 days. My parents were out for 12 days, and I have a co-worker that just got his power back on the night before last.(14days) I won't be asking for a credit. My service was working before and during the strom hit. My power was out, but I'm sure that the service would have worked since it melted in a couple of days.

Had a friend of mine not said that Direct was giving them a credit, I probably would not have asked. I was without power for 12 days and racked alot of unexpected expenses very quickly. So any little bit I can get back will help. Had dish said they couldn't help I would have been frustrated but would have seen their viewpoint since it really wasn't their fault. I was just writing this for those might not know credit is a possibility. This is a plus of dish for doing this.

Oh by the way those who gave smart alec responses you can actually turn in food that you lost in your fridge and freezer to your insurance company, if you meet your deductible you can be remimbursed for them.

How about snow?

My dish had frozen snow on it for 3 - 1/2 days so I couldn't get a signal. Should I get a credit on my bill for frozen snow build up?
