Davenport Iowa HD locals

Why were they were postponed in the first place? It was November, per Charlie Chat, that they were going live. Then they are delayed .. why? Now 3 months later .. no word. Any dealers know what is up?

I chatted live with a Dish CSR about Davenport HD locals Monday Night. He knew of no launch date saying they have only a few days advance notice for a launch. However, I asked if I could change my locality but retain my billing address, He replied I'll get a work order. I told him, no work order needed, I'm all set up. Chicago DMA is six blocks away. He was ready and willing to "move me"

Would it be that easy for me to do? I live in north west Davenport. I would pefer not do that. But ya gota do what ya gota do.
Get on the stick Dish and light'em up:rant::rant:

i know it stinks. in davenport though, you could easily get those locals, probably with little more then a bunny ear antenna.. i get them 80+ miles away down here south of burlington.. admittedly with a bigger antennae..

yes it would..

Jasperpso .... would I be able to get Des Moines or Cedar Rapids in Davenport? Would want to make sure we are in their spot beam. Got to stay in Iowa or I would lose Fox North for my Twins. I do get my locals via a square shooter but that only gives me one viewing option at at a time on my 622 for HD locals.

No Direct thanks anyway

I know that Direct has Davenport Locals. My son has Direct and I don't think that I could handle the down grade in the rest of the service. The Dish DVR's are so much better than Direct's and they are very important in my household. I do have good over the air reception. I would just like the added advantages that you get with addition of HD locals through satellite. Light'em up Dish!!!!

you wont ever be elidgible for cr or dsm locals, without 'moving'.. if you have a quality directional antennae pointed at cr with a good amp, u mightbe able to get them, no chance for dsm.. too far.

having satellite locals will only allow you to dvr more then one event at a time.. a simple solution would be to upgrade to a 722k with a ota module.. that will allow you to record 2 things off the antennae at one time, and you could do that today, with the beautiful un compressed ota quality..

TheList with the spotbeam maps is your best friend... of course, verify with the signal meter on your receiver too.

I was talking about"moving" .... I would keep my OTA for Davenport and then pick up CR or Des Moines. Looks like DSM would be out per spotbeam but CR may be available. With the 722K can I change an OTA channel while recording another OTA channel? Currently if I am recording OTA I can't watch another OTA .. but can watch a satellite channel. Maybe the 722K will allow that. Thanks guys for your help!

Sure you can, just split your OTA coax and run a line to your TV, switch the input on your TV to antenna and watch any OTA channel you wish.
This assumes your TV has it's own ATSC tuner. This also assumes that you are currently feeding your TV with HDMI or component so the antenna
input on your TV is free.

Yes, you can watch one OTA channel and record another one with a
722k as it has 2 OTA tuners.
