my reciever died this morning wont power on i do have a back up reciever but has the yellow card still just curioues before i call dish network i know ill have to get the purple smart card just wondering will i be charge for a new card or not anyone experiece did this after the smart card swap ?
 
I've swapped cards between receivers in the past with minimum hassle. The CSR always says it won't work and want's to send out a new card but, it always does. Just seems takes a couple minutes longer than you expect.

I'd call them and try that route first before having them send a new card.
 
They have told me that the card belonged in another receiver and that they cannot do it when I actually tried but I talked to a tech before trying it and they told me that it was possible.

They want $50 + $15 Shipping (ripoff on the shipping cost) for the card.

Don't these cards belong to Dish Network / Echostar? If so then why are they charging us for them? Don't that make them the property of the customer? This is bull.
